Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team played a non-conference match-up today with the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph’s College at the Athletic Center posting a 12-3 victory to improve 21-18 overall. With the nine run loss, St. Joe’s falls to 25-13-1.

In the 2nd inning senior Aaron Drury (Canton, MI) ripped a bases loaded double down the left field line picking up three RBI as senior Jairo Jimenez (Bronx, NY), sophomore Pete Sita (Bayonne, NJ) and junior Mike Manges (Glen Rock, NJ) each scored to take a 3-0 lead.

St. Joe’s closed the gap in the 4th inning when Mark Cisek (Sayville, NY) crossed the plate on a Mike Hernandez (Lake Grove, NY) single to right. Cisek tied the game, 3-3, in the next inning with a two-run shot over the left field fence.

The 7th inning for the Roadrunners brought nine runs jumping ahead 12-3. Drury led off the inning with a double and with runners on first and third, Tim Gaven (Union, NJ) ripped a double to center field plating both. With one out, senior Nick Sbarra (Washington Twp., NJ) hit a double of his own scoring two more for Ramapo before the Roadrunners plated five more runs with two outs to take the nine run advantage. Manges drove in two before scoring himself on a wild pitch and Gaven hit his second double of the inning scoring two more runs before the final out went in the book.

Rookie pitcher Paul Ciccazzo (Staten Island, NY) pitched the final two innings for the Roadrunners striking out one and walking none. Tim Hannes (Allendale, NJ) earned the win in seven innings of work. He struck out ten and walked only two to improve to 3-1 on the year.

Senior Ryan Paxton (Long Valley, NJ) hit 3-4 in the game with one run scored while David Deredita (Clark, NJ) went 3-5 with one run. Drury hit 2-3 with three RBI and Mages drove in two and scored two hitting 1-5. Gaven drove in a team-high four runs in the win.

Ken Nizinski (Levittown, NY) gets the loss falling to 1-3 overall. He struck out one with no walks, letting up eight hits and six runs, all earned.

Ramapo’s plays their final regular season game on Saturday, May 3rd, away at Lehman at 1:00 PM.
