10-8 OVERALL
The Ramapo College men’s tennis wrapped up the 2007-2008 season with a 10-8 overall record.
The team opened the year with a match on October 20th as they traveled to University of Scranton and fell, 2-7. The Roadrunners then went on their first ever Spring Trip to Orlando, Florida, playing against some very tough competition. On March 11th, Ramapo fell to Colby-Sawyer, 3-6, before being shutout, 0-9, to Wheaton and Calvin. They bounced back on the final day of play with a 9-0-shutout win over Ursinus.
The Roadrunners defeated Yeshiva, 7-2, and Bard, 9-0, before falling to Division II Dowling, 2-7. They bounced back posting a four-match win streak including victories over Saint Thomas Aquinas, 7-2 at home and Alvernia, 7-2 on the road. Ramapo hosted Manhattanville on April 8th and defeated the Valiants, 5-4, before shutting out Rutgers-Newark, 9-0.
Ramapo’s win streak came to an end when back-to-back losses came at the hands of FDU-Florham, 2-7, and Adelphi, 0-9. They posted a three-match win streak from April 16th to April 21st when they defeated John Jay, 8-1, and NCAA Division II schools, Bloomfield, 9-0, and Caldwell, 9-0. In their final match of the season they traveled to PAC Champion, Nuemann, in Alson, PA, where they posted a tough 3-6 loss.
Individually,
Matt Soos went 10-2 overall in singles action while posting a 7-7 doubles record.
Jared Rochman posted an 11-4 singles record and
Keith Dobrin finished 9-7 on the year.
Dobrin and Rochman posted a team best 7-5 doubles record while
Paul Baluyut and
Matt Cacciaguida finished 3-1. Nick Sposato and
Adam Toth finished 2-0.
As a team the Roadrunners went 62-44 in singles match-ups posting a .585 winning percentage. The team only dropped 23 doubles match-ups and earned 28 victories for a .549 win percentage in doubles play.
