Pomona, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's track and field team earned a 3rd place finish at the 2008 NJAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships today at Richard Stockton College improving on their 4th place finish from last season.  The team combined for 98 points falling just short to Richard Stockton and defending champions, TCNJ.

Sophomore Linda Puntasecca (Wayne, NJ) and junior Lynn St. Lawrence (Goshen, NY) both earned 2nd place finishes and eight points for Ramapo in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and the pole vault event respectively.  Puntasecca clocked in at 12:17.07 breaking the previous school record while St. Lawrence hit 3.10 meters in the finals.  Puntasecca also earned a 5th place finish in the 1,500-meter run clocking in at 5:14.45.

Rookie Melissa Davila (Maywood, NJ) placed 5th in the pole vault and 5th in the 100-meter hurdles.  She finished with a 2.95 meter mark in the pole vault while clocking in at 16.81 seconds in the finals of the hurdles.  Davila qualified for the ECAC Championships with a 16.23 second mark in the trials.

Rookie Sophia Davis (Elizabeth, NJ) placed 4th in the 100-meter dash and fellow rookie Kristen Klemic (Somers Point, NJ) placed 5th in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.  Davis crossed the finish line in 12.74 in the finals and 12.73 in the trials, breaking the school record and qualifying for the 2008 ECACs.  Klemic crossed the finish line in an ECAC qualifying time of 12.77, while finishing the 200-meter dash in 26.61.

Davis, Klemic, Juliana DaCosta (Dumont, NJ), and St. Lawrence, combined efforts in the 4x100 relay, finishing in 51.12 for 3rd place overall, and a new school record.  Klemic and Davis joined forces with Ashley Petty (East Orange, NJ) and Pharline Dauphin (Linden, NJ) to earn 3rd place in the 4x400 meter run in 4:11.24.  The time was a new school record and also qualifies the team for the ECAC Championships.

DaCosta placed 4th in the long jump, 7th in the 100-meter dash, 3rd in the triple jump, and 5th in the high jump.  5.04 meters was her mark in the long jump while she hit 10.34 meters in the triple jump and 1.51 meters in the high jump.  She finished the 100-meter dash in 13.28 seconds.
