Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College tennis team defeated NJAC foe Kean University today, 8-1.
The Roadrunners improve to 7-4, 3-1 in the conference while the Cougars fall to 6-5 and 1-4 in the conference.

Sophomore Laura Strandberg (East Brunswick, NJ) and senior Kristine Austria (Jersey City, NJ) defeated Lisette LaForge (Roselle Park, NJ) and Lauren Petrucelli (Wood-Ridge, NJ) at first doubles, 8-4.

Senior Alison Tukel (Morris Plains, NJ) and Brittany Pitts (Pompton Lakes, NJ) were 8-1 winners over Alleyna Alleyne (Jackson, NJ) and Miriam Penafiel (Newark, NJ) at second doubles. Sophomore Jywel Almirante (Newton, NJ) and junior Nicole Lapsley teamed up at third doubles to defeat Katherine Arauz (Newark, NJ) and Jessica Oquendo (North Bergen, NJ), 8-2.

Kean’s lone point came at second singles when rookie Lauren Petrucelli (Wood-Ridge, NJ) was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Austria. For Rampao rookie Alexandria Potosnak (Vernon, NJ) took home a 6-2, 6-0 win at third singles over Alleyne, her ninth win of the season, (9-2).


Ramapo will take on Stevens Institute of Technology tomorrow at 3:30 PM. While Kean will travel to FDU-Florham at 3:00 PM.
