Pitman, NJ: The 2009 NJAC Baseball All-Conference teams were announced today and three members of the Roadrunners team were among the honorees.
Junior utility player
Joey Cacchiola (Union, NJ) earned NJAC Second team honors after being named to the NJAC First team in 2007. He currently leads the team in batting average (.392), runs scored (34), triples (4), RBI (28). His 49 hits is second on the team along with his six doubles. Cacchiola batted .406 against NJAC opponents this season.
Junior pitcher
Michael Murano (Brick, NJ) earned NJAC Honorable Mention, this is his first NJAC All-Conference honor. Murano has the second lowest ERA in league play this season, 1.03 in 26.1 innings pitched. He struck out 34 batters over 45 innings pitched during the season. He currently holds a 3.20 ERA with ten appearances and seven games started with one complete game and one shutout.
Senior designated hitter
David Deredita (Clark, NJ) earned NJAC Honorable Mention, this is his first NJAC All-Conference honor in his career. Deredita has recorded a team leading 51 hits this season and a .367 batting average. He has scored 32 runs while knocking in 24 with five doubles and one triple. Deredita batted .347 against NJAC opponents this season (25-72) while scoring 15 runs.
The Roadrunners earned the #5 seed in the 2009 NJAC Baseball Tournament and host #6 Rowan University today at Jeff Maund Field at 3:30 PM.
