Mahwah, NJ: Former Roadrunner Tennyson Whitted has been named as part of the NJ Hoops Small College Team of the Decade released today by njhoops.com.  Whitted was a Three-Time NJAC Defensive Player of the Year, NJAC 1st Team recipient, ECAC 1st Team honoree, and a NCAA All-Sectional Elite Eight Team member to name just a few.

Whitted led Ramapo from the point for four straight seasons from 1999-2003.  He led the team, and the nation, in assists (262/8.7g) and steals (117/3.9g), while being a Coach’s Award recipient in 2000-2001, and Most Valuable Player of 2001-2002. Whitted dished out a game high 17 assists in multiple games while shooting a solid 88% from the free throw line and 46% from the floor. He netted his 1,000th career point vs. Montclair State in the NJAC Finals on February 28, 2003. Whitted helped lead Ramapo to their first ever ECAC Metro Championship Crown with a 101-83 victory over the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City with 8 points, 17 assists, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals in 2001-2002, and only their second appearance in the program’s history in the Division III NCAA Elite Eight. Whitted became the first player in Ramapo’s history to net over 1,000 points and dish out over 900 assists in a career.

In 2002-2003, Whitted's senior year, the Ramapo College Roadrunners finished their season at 26-4 overall, 17-1 NJAC recording the best overall and conference records in the program’s history. The team beat the record for the most wins which was previously held by the 1991 Final Four Team with 24. Ramapo also was the first team in Ramapo’s history to clinch 1st place in the NJAC.

For his career at Ramapo, Whitted will be inducted into the Ramapo College Hall of Fame on April 24, 2010 at the Bradley Center in Mahwah.
