Piscataway, NJ: The Ramapo College men's swim team placed ninth overall at the 2010 Metropolitan Collegiate Championships hosted by Rutgers University. The Roadrunners tallied 473.5 points in the meet.
Stephen Fox (Freehold Twp., NJ) qualified for the NCAA Championships in the "A" final when he placed fourth overall in the 100-yard backstroke. His time of 52.31 is a "B" cut time, he will now wait to see if he is invited to the NCAA Championships. He also swam the 50-yard freestyle and finished 12th overall in 21.99 in the "B" final, 12th overall. His time in the preliminaries was 21.83. Fox also advanced to the "A" final in the 200-yard backstroke with his season's best time of 1:55.98, fourth overall.
Terry Hubert (Howell, NJ) finished in 22.28 in the "C" final in the 50-yard freestyle, 24th overall and
Peter Polgar (Wayne, NJ) finished in 26th place, 22.22. Hubert also finished 23rd overall in the "C" final of the 100-yard freestyle in 49.02.
Geoff Richter (Cherry Hill, NJ) placed 13th overall in the 200-yard freestyle in the "B" final with a time of 1:46.52.
Johnny Olsson (Stockholm, Sweden) clocked in at 1:52.22 for 35th place overall in the same event. Richter also placed 15th overall in the "B" final of the 500-yard freestyle in 4:54.37 while Olsson clocked in at 5:06.12 for 20th place in the "C" final.
Mike Waterhouse (Eastampton, NJ) placed 17th overall in the "C" final when he clocked in at 56.00 in the 100-yard backstroke while
Andrew English (Lincoln Park, NJ) placed 13th overall in the "B" final with a time of 2:01.89.
Alex Krueger (East Brunswick, NJ) placed 21st overall in the "C" final in 2:09.98.
In the 100-yard breaststroke five Roadrunners placed.
Robert Stein (Sloatsburg, NY) placed tenth overall in the "B" final (1:02.06),
Frank Patierno (Boonton Twp., NJ) finished in 15th place (1:03.28) and
David Nehls (Oakland, NJ) placed 16th (1:03.45). In the "C" final,
Kyle Plucinsky (Denville, NJ) finished in 17th place (1:03.92) while
Jared McGrath (Edgewater, NJ) placed 17th overall (1:04.57).
Stein took home a ninth place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke as he clocked in at 2:14.36 in the "B" final while Nehls captured 14th place in 2:18.33. Hubert captured an eighth place finish in the 100-yard butterfly as he clocked in at 52.96 in the "A" final while Waterhouse took tenth in the "B" final in 53.02.
In the 200-yard butterfly, English placed 14th overall with his time of 2:07.97 in the "B" final while
Nikolas Ablan (Hazlet, NJ) and Krueger took home 22nd (2:16.74) and 24th (2:21.45) place respectively in the "C" final. English also placed 12th in the 200-yard IM in 2:00.31 in the "B" final.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team made up of Fox, Polgar, Waterhouse and Hubert, finished the "A" final in sixth place in 1:27.01. The 400-yard freestyle team made up of Patierno, Richter, Waterhouse and Hubert qualified in fourth place in the "A" final with a time of 3:13.24, they were disqualified during the finals.
The 200-yard IM relay team made up of Fox, Stein, Hubert and Polgar finished first in the "B" final and ninth overall in 1:37.78. The 400-yard medley relay team made up of Fox, Nehls, Hubert and Patierno placed seventh overall in the "A" final with a time of 3:35.38.
