Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team defeated John Jay College, 105-80. The Roadrunners now stand at 17-6 overall.
Five players scored in double figures for Ramapo in the win. Senior
Andre Kenny (Jersey City, NJ) and sophomore
LaQuan Peterkin (Paterson, NJ) posted 19 points each. Kenny dished out a team high eight assists along with four steals. LaQuan pulled down seven boards while going 7-8 from the field and 5-7 from the foul line.
Sophomore
Davian Plunkett (Paterson, NJ) posted a double double with 15 points, 6-8 from the field and 3-4 from the foul line while pulling down ten boards. He also blocked three shots and had three steals. Rookie
Travis Conyers (Jersey City, NJ) tallied 12 points as he was perfect from the field, 6-6 with three steals. Senior
Isaiah Lynch (Linden, NJ) scored ten points with two assists and one steal while sophomore
Garret Thiel (Middletown, NJ) scored eight points and dished out four assists and three steals.
For the Bloodhounds, Vaughn Mason (Bronx, NY) posted a game high 22 points as he went 8-17 from the field and 4-10 from behind the arc while going 2-2 from the foul line. He also pulled down eight boards and dished out four assists and two seals. Darryl Dennis (Valley Stream, NY) posted 14 points, 6-10 from the field, 2-3 from the three point line. David Williams scored ten points and dished out a team high five assists.
The Roadrunners jumped out to a quick ten point lead in the first half before the Bloodhounds would cut it to just three with a three pointer by Mason at 12:34 in the half, 17-14. Ramapo stretched the lead to 16, 41-25, on a made layup by Plunkett before the Bloodhounds made three straight shots to shrink it to 12, 41-29. Ramapo led by 21 at the half on a layup by Conyers with 11 seconds left on the clock, 57-36.
Ramapo never looked back in the second half. They took their biggest lead at 34, 89-55 as rookie
Mike Thelusma (Roselle, NJ) sunk a basket with 9:08 to go in the game, 91-58. John Jay made three three pointers to cut the lead to 24 but that was as close as they would get.
The Roadrunners return to action when they travel to conference rival New Jersey City University on Saturday at 8:00 PM.
