Ewing, NJ: The Ramapo College men's track and field team, led by
Brendan Gareffa's (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ) and
Brandon Melchior's (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ) record breaking finishes in the discus and hammer throws respectively, earned 123 points for a second place finish at the 2010 NJAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships today at the College of New Jersey.
Gareffa placed second overall and recorded a school record marking 46.78 meters in the discus throw, while Melchior also broke a school record in the hammer throw reaching 49.52 meters for a second place ribbon.
Valdir Mondesir (Montclair, NJ) led all Roadrunners on the day finishing in first place for the NJAC Championship title in the high jump. Mondesir cleared 2.03 meters in the event.
Dillon Rodgers (Bogota, NJ) and
Kevin Silary (Voorhees, NJ) rounded out the top performers in the throwing events marking 59.04 meters and 55.34 meters respectively in the javelin. Rodgers placed fifth overall and Silary finished in eighth place marking an ECAC qualifying distance.
Senior
Kyle Price (Milltown, NJ) placed second in the 1,500-meter run in 4:08.98, while earning a third place ribbon in the 5,000-meter run, crossing the finish line in 15:54.91. Fellow senior
Jon Lindenauer (Morganville, NJ) placed second in the 10,000-meter run in 33:52.79, and
Tom Bohlin (Westwood, NJ) finished the 800-meter race in 2:03.27 for an eighth place ribbon.
Jermaine Boyd (Hackensack, NJ) placed third in the 110-meter hurdles and fifth in the 400-meter hurdles clocking in at 14.84 and 55.23 respectively. In the 110-meter trials, Boyd ran 14.80, a result qualifying as a NCAA Provisional Time.
Andrew Capizzi (Paramus, NJ),
Tim Paziora (Newton, NJ), and
Daniel Sewnig (Yardville, NJ) all competed in the steeplechase earning second, fourth, and sixth place ribbons respectively. Capizzi finished the race in 9:56.48 while Paziora crossed the finish line in 10:20.30. Sewnig rounded out the the trio in 10:42.59.
Adam Lazor (Hewitt, NJ) rounded out the Roadrunner's top finishers of the day placing second overall in the pole vault. Lazor cleared 4.40 meters in the event.
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday and Friday when they head to the ECAC Championships in Springfield, Mass.
