10-6 Overall, 4-1 NJAC
The Ramapo College women’s basketball team finished their 2009-2010 season standing at 11-15 overall, 4-9 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. They earned a third place finish in the North Division and a birth into the 2010 NJAC Basketball Tournament, the first time since the 1992-1993 season.
Ramapo hosted the 2010 Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament and defeated Medgar Evers, 70-53 before falling in the Championship game to Drew, 52-42. The Roadrunners defeated College of Staten Island, 61-60 before picking up a 67-63 road win at Manhattanville. Ramapo dropped it’s first NJAC game of the season to William Paterson, 73-66 and fell to FDU-Florham, 65-58.
The team defeated New York City Tech, 63-23 before falling in their next two games. Washington handed the Roadrunners a 70-62 loss before they fell to NCAA Division I Army, 58-42. At the 9th Annual STARTERS/Moravian Winter Classic, the team came away with a 74-65 win over Cedar Crest and fell at the hands of Gwynedd-Mercy, 78-71.
The Roadrunners next for games were against NJAC competition, coming away with one win. They fell to Montclair State, Rowan and Kean while picking up a win over Rutgers-Camden, 70-37. They defeated Hunter, 64-62 on the road before falling to New Jersey City, 58-55. The team lost on the road to Stockton before bouncing back with a 54-43 win over Rutgers-Newark. Ramapo fell in their next three games to NJAC rivals, the College of NJ, William Paterson and Montclair State before going on a three game win streak. They defeated John Hay, 60-38 before earning big conference wins over New Jersey City, 71-66 and Rutgers Newark, 63-41. They earned the North’s #3 seed in the 2010 NJAC Tournament and would travel to the South’s #2 seed, Rowan. The Roadrunners led at halftime, 34-31, but could not hold on as the Profs defeated Ramapo, 72-65.
Rookie
Meghan Reilly (Morganville, NJ), who started all 26 games, led the team with 375 points (158-280), 56% from the field and 14.4 per game while she averaged 28.7 minutes per game. She also shot 72% (57-79) from the foul line while she was second in rebounds with 166, 6.4 per game. She recorded five blocks and 34 steals and 17 assists. Rookie
Alexa Ryan (Hazlet, NJ) was second on the team with 210 points, 10.0 per game. She posted 40 assists, 25 steals and 95 rebounds while she shot 63% (49-77) from the foul line. Rookie
Faith Flannery (Red Bank, NJ) started 26 games for the Roadrunners scored 188 points, third on the team. She led the team in blocks with 24 while recording 22 steals and second on the team with 61 assists while grabbing 96 rebounds. Junior
Stephanie Cannizzaro (Pequannock, NJ) posted 187 points in 24 games played; she tallied 44 assists, 26 steals and 20 blocks while grabbing 71 rebounds. Junior
Lindsey Gripenburg (Bloomingdale, NJ) scored 184 points while recording 77 rebounds and a team high 44 steals. She also shot 78% from the foul line (44-56). Junior
Danielle Beam (Middletown, NJ) tallied a team high 187 rebounds while scoring 170 points, she grabbed 23 steals and blocked 18 shots. Junior
Brittany Hoffman (Belford, NJ) led the team with 82 assists while adding 101 points. Sophomore
Mallory Cornett (Hawthorne, NJ) tallied 104 points, 34 steals and 55 assists.
