Mahwah, NJ: The #2 Ramapo College women's lacrosse team defeated #3 Farmingdale State College today, 15-11 in the semi-final of the 2011 Skyline Championships Tournament. The Roadrunners (11-4) now advanced to play #1 Montclair State University tomorrow afternoon at 1:00pm in Little Falls, NJ.
The Roadrunners who advance to the Championship game for the second year in a row, also earned their 11th win of the season, their highest win total in school history.
Ramapo got on the board first 4:34 into the game with a goal by
Colleen Steel off a pass from
Jenna Pfarr, 1-0 before Carly Schneider tallied two straight goals to go up 2-1 for Farmingdale. Justine Rothar made it 3-1 off a free position shot before Pfarr tallied her 25th goal of the season to come within one, 3-2. Ramapo tied the game when
Amanda Barretta tallied her team leading 47th goal of the season before
Adrianna Tepedino put Ramapo in the lead, 4-3 with her 33rd goal of the season 22:36 into the half.
Farmingdale tied the game at four before Barretta scored an unassisted goal with just over a minute to play in the half to take a 5-4 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, Ramapo scored back to back goals by Barretta and Tepedino for a 7-4 lead before Farmingdale got two back to come within one goal, 7-6 with just under twelve minutes remaining in the game. Steel netted her second goal in the game before Pfarr took a pass from Tepedino and fired in her 26th goal of the season to take a three goal lead, 9-6. Ramapo then rallied with five goals over the next seven minutes for a 13-8 lead before Farmingdale came back to score four straight goals. Megan Erler scored her fifth goal of the season before Rothar netted back to back goals and Emily Williams tallied her team leading 45th goal off a pass from Rothar, 13-11 with just under two minutes to play in the game.
Steel scored hit the back of the net for her fourth goal of the game and 31st of the season before
Kristen Jakubik scored the final goal of the game off a free position shot with seven seconds remaining. Farmingdale won the final draw control as time expired as the Roadrunners advanced to the Skyline Championship game with a 15-11 victory.
Diana Silva raised her record to 8-3 in the net for Ramapo with 13 saves in the complete game. Barretta and Steel both collected four goals in the game while Jakubik netted three. Pfarr and Tependino tallied two goals a two assists in the game for the Roadrunners.
