Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College community is heartbroken over the loss of a Roadrunner,
Colin McNeill, 22, of Little Falls, New Jersey.
A four-year member of the men's volleyball team, McNeill, (April 14, 1990-November 28, 2012), passed away Wednesday evening from injuries suffered in a recent skateboarding accident. McNeill is survived by his parents, Wendy and Roger, and sisters, Erin and Meredith.
McNeill was working on completing his degree in social science with a minor in law and society this semester, while continuing to develop his own landscaping business. He was a volunteer member of the Little Falls Fire Department.
During his time at Ramapo, McNeill served as a member and then president (2011-2012) of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He performed as “Rocky” the Roadrunner on numerous occasions, and competed as a member of the college's Bass Fishing Club.
On the volleyball court he served as captain for two seasons while making 99 appearances in the game, collecting more than 525 kills. He earned the coach's award in Spring 2010 for his leadership and sportsmanship on the court, and was named to the Athletic Director's All-Academic Honorable Mention Team in 2009.
One of Ramapo's finest student-athletes, he will be greatly missed!
