Mahwah, NJ: Ramapo College Athletic Director, Chuck Gordon, announced today that Mike Jackson has been tabbed as the new Director of Cross Country and Track & Field. This marks a major growth and improvement of the overall program.
Jackson was hired as the first full time cross country and track & field coach here at Ramapo back at the start of the 2006 season, and has spent the last seven years developing the programs to reach national accomplishments and recognition. He also played an integral role in the planning and development of the college's state-of-the-art track & field facility in 2008. Jackson is a two-time USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Coach of the Year. He led the women's track & field team to the first-ever NJAC Championship title during the 2012 season, and a third place finish at nationals during the 2013 outdoor season. Jackson has seen and coached 37 All-Americans throughout his coaching career at Ramapo, and has had the honor of witnessing four Roadrunners earn individual NCAA Championship Titles.
"I am delighted to have been named Director of the cross country and track & field programs here at the college," Jackson said. "The athletic department, and the institution as a whole, has been very supportive of me and our staff over the years."
Coach Jackson will directly supervise a new cross country head coach position that has been created, and is now in the process of being filled. In addition, Jackson hopes to bring in additional staff for the cross country and track & field teams.
This year Ramapo will host the NJAC cross country championships for the first time in history on Saturday, November 2, 2013, while hosting its first-ever indoor track & field invitational at the NY Armory on January 18, 2014. The meet, named Ramapo College Indoor Select, will feature many of the top teams in Division II and III.
"I look forward to continuing my career here at Ramapo and doing my best to make this an outstanding experience for our student-athletes."
