#2 RAMAPO TAKES DOWN #5 UNION IN WALK-OFF NCAA WIN 3-2

Auburn, NY:  The #2 Ramapo College baseball team defeated #5 Union College today in walk-off fashion 3-2 in the bottom of the tenth inning. The Roadrunners (34-10-1) advance to game eight of the NCAA New York Regional tomorrow night at 6:00pm and will take on the winner of game three #3 Frostburg State and #4 Susquehanna.
 
Junior Brandon Martinez drove home senior Rob DeAngelis the game-winning run in the bottom of the tenth inning with two outs for the 3-2 win. DeAngelis singled with one out and moved to second on a sac bunt from Matt Chemis.
 
Union scored two runs with two outs in the third inning with RBI singles from Kent Curran and Eric Egan to take a 2-0 lead.  The Ramapo bats were kept quiet with only three hits off Union starting pitcher Jake Fishman heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. Down 2-0, Connor Walsh got the Roadrunners on the board with a solo home run to lead off the seventh to come within one.
 
Ramapo tied the game in the ninth when Martinez led off with a double to left-center before he moved to third on an infield ground out. With two outs Bobby Shannon smacked a triple on the seventh pitch of his at bat to the right-center field gap allowing Martinez to score the game-tying run.
 
In the bottom of the 10th DeAngelis singled and moved to second on Chemis' bunt before Union intentionally walked NJAC Player of the Year Joe Venturino. Martinez then stepped to the plate with the late game heroics.
 
Fishman ended the game with 12 strikeouts, one walk and scattered five hits over eight complete innings. Jamie Faber (2-1) worked the final 1.2 innings for Union allowing four hits, two runs while he struck out two and walked one.
 
CJ Growney started for Ramapo working the first 5.2 innings, striking out four and walking one while he scattered six hits in the no decision. Jon Brignoni came into the game and faced five batters in 1.1 innings, striking out two and scattering two hits. Greg Westhelle surrendered one hit over two-thirds of an inning holding Union to only two runs. Jerry D'Andrea entered the game in the top of the eighth inning closing the door on the Union rally and earning the win. D'Andrea (2-1) struck out one, walked one and did not surrender a hit in the final 2.1 innings of play.
 
DeAngelis, Martinez, Walsh and Rinsky each collected two hits in the game while Martinez, Walsh and Shannon all drove in RBIs.
