Joe Valentino

Joe Valentino joined the Ramapo College Athletics Department in September 2019 as Coordinator of Sports Performance for the Roadrunners. He is in charge of developing & overseeing the Sports Performance / Strength & Conditioning programs for all participating varsity sport teams at Ramapo.
 
His Strength & Conditioning/Sports Performance background contains a wide variety of experience, in which he has worked with athletes across various levels of sport, from the professional stage, to the collegiate ranks, as well as the high school level.
 
Before Valentino returned home to New Jersey, the Bergen County native was the Assistant Director of Strength & Conditioning at Florida Atlantic University from 2012-2017. During his time at FAU, he worked with all 18 intercollegiate Division-I sport programs and over 500 student-athletes. In addition to his Coaching duties, Joe was the Strength & Conditioning Internship Director as well as the liaison to the FAU Exercise Science Department. He also spent time working with the Sports Performance Department at North Broward Preparatory School, as a Strength & Conditioning Coach as well as an Assistant Track & Field Coach.
 
Before living in South Florida, Valentino worked with the Carolina Panthers’ Strength & Conditioning staff of the National Football League. During his stint with the Panthers, he coached and oversaw the player development training programs for all offensive and defensive skill-position players as well as quarterbacks & special teams players. In addition, he coached Carolina’s 2012 rookie draft class through their OTA strength & conditioning training programs, which included linebacker & 2012 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, Luke Kuechly.
 
Joe began his Strength & Conditioning career at his alma mater, James Madison University, where he worked with JMU’s Olympic Strength & Conditioning sports for 2 years, specifically assisting with the Dukes’ Track & Field, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Men’s Soccer, Women’s Soccer, Baseball, and Softball teams.
 
Valentino holds numerous certifications, including the SCCC from the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association, USA Weightlifting L1, Precision-Nutrition L1, FMS-1, as well as First-Aid/CPR/AED through the American Red Cross.
 
Additionally, he has a Master’s degree in Exercise Science & Health Promotion from Florida Atlantic University as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology & Exercise Science from James Madison University.
