FAVRE TOP 30 NCAA WOMAN OF YEAR FINALIST

Mahwah, NJ:  Two-time National Champion and five time NCAA All-American pole vaulter, Michelle Favre, has been selected as a Top 30 finalist in the hunt for the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year Award.  Favre is the first Ramapo College student-athlete selected as the representative from the New Jersey Athletic Conference, and is one of only ten Division III athletes selected.

Favre is one of 450 nominees to earn this award.  In September, the selection committee will announce the top nine finalists (three from each division), and the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will vote from amongst those finalists to determine the 2013 Woman of the Year.

Favre will travel to Indianapolis in October, where the NCAA will announce the 2013 Woman of the Year.  All Top 30 finalists will be honored.

Favre has won numerous post-season athletic and academic awards, and earlier this summer was named Scholar Athlete of the Year for the 2013 Division III track & field season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Favre graduated this past May holding a 3.969 grade point average and a degree in biology/physical therapy. Earlier this year, she was named to the CoSida Capital One Academic All-District First Team.  Favre is a member of Ramapo's Theoretical and Applied Science research honors program and the college's pre-med club and biology club. Favre won the National Championship in the pole vault at the 2012-2013 NCAA DIII Indoor Track and Field Championships, and again at the outdoor championships this past May.

She is an eight-time letter winner, the Betty Logan Senior Female Athlete of the Year, 2012-2013, and the Ramapo College Career Award recipient, 2012-2013.  She has been named team Most Valuable Runner in 2012-2013, USTFCCCA Regional Athlete of the Year - Indoor - 2012-2013, USTFCCCA Regional Athlete of the Year - Outdoor - 2013, and NJAIAW Woman of the Year - 2012-2013.
